Hunt for armed hospital raider

GARDAÍ in Galway are searching for a knife- wielding raider who stole an estimated €20,000 from the biggest hospital in the west of Ireland.

The raider, who was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, assaulted a member of staff as he stole the money when he held up a café and shop in the foyer of University Hospital Galway shortly after 9pm on Thursday. One staff member suffered minor injuries.

Gardaí at Mill Street on 091-538000 are examining CCTV footage in a bid to catch the raider, described as being 6’3” tall.
