Man denied bail over €36k of drugs
Detective Garda Michael O’Halloran arrested Kieran O’Sullivan, aged 22, of 34 Innismore Grove, Ballincollig, Co Cork, and charged him with having cannabis for sale or supply at Ballyburden Road, Ballincollig, on Wednesday last, and having more cannabis resin at Lynch’s farm, Ballyburden on the same date.
Det Garda O’Halloran objected to bail on a number of grounds, including the seriousness of the offence.
He said O’Sullivan was allegedly caught with a 0.25kg of cannabis in his car at Ballyburden Road and that in a follow-up search at a house in Lynch’s farm, 2.75kg of the drug was found.
O’Sullivan testified that he would stay around to face the case and he would not commit further drugs offences.
Defence solicitor, Frank Buttimer, said: “He was left a 135-acre farm and there would be every reason for this young man to stick around.”
Judge Tim Lucey refused bail.
He remanded the accused in custody until November 4 for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
