A NEW state agency is to be established to replace Fás as the national training authority, Tánaiste Mary Coughlan has said.

Fás has been mired in controversy for the last two years over wasteful spending of taxpayers’ money.

Critics of the agency have repeatedly called for it to be abolished and a new body established to assume responsibility for promoting job opportunities and training courses.
