Sheen to supply Kenmare scheme

DESPITE strong local opposition, Kerry County Council is to use the River Sheen as a supplementary source for a long-awaited water scheme in Kenmare.

The Sheen, the favoured choice of council management and consultants as a source, was voted down last March by the council.

However, it was approved yesterday as the preferred option following a detailed presentation by director of water services, Oliver Ring.
