Kenny accepts Cowen’s invite on talks

A MEETING of party leaders to explore the possibility of a consensus approach to the budget moved a step closer last night after Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said he would accept the Taoiseach’s invitation to talks.

Mr Kenny said he would be happy to meet with Brian Cowen and welcomed the fact that the Taoiseach was “seeing the light”.

But Labour was more cautious, saying it was unsure what Mr Cowen was proposing and why he had U-turned on the issue.
