Man killed in work accident
The man, in his 20s, was part of a crew moving a load of timber at woods in Kilmeedy, about 10km from Newcastle West.
The accident happened around 11.30am.
It is understood that he was struck by a machine used to move the timber. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another man was treated for shock.
The body was removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
