Call for action on toxic dump

CORK county manager Martin Riordan has told a high-powered committee dealing with the future of a toxic dump that it must finalise its work as soon as possible so remediation can take place on the site.

He told councillors yesterday that he had met last week with the committee, which is headed by John Sydenham of the OPW.

The committee also consists of representatives from the Departments of Defence, the Environment and Enterprise.
