A Dáil committee has heard that it is “proving to be very complex and unclear” as to who is responsible for providing the €3m required to repair a threatened historic weir in Cork.

The OPW has bowed to public pressure and plans to use demountable barriers instead of raising quay walls along two historic quays as part of its €140m flood defence plan for Cork City.
