A JOBS fair taking place next week in Tipperary is aimed at providing information about the training and supports available to job-seekers.

Job fairs to offer support and advice to unemployed

The event has been organised by Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes and will be held in Carrick-on-Suir on Wednesday, September 15.

Among the services available on the night at the Carraig Hotel will be an opportunity for people to speak one-on-one with representatives from the South Tipperary County Enterprise Board, Fás, a mortgage adviser, South Tipperary Development, the VEC, Tipperary Institute, University of Limerick, and Waterford Institute of Technology.

There will also be CV and career advice and tips for managing money during the fair which runs from 7pm to 9pm next Wednesday.

According to Mr Hayes, the aim of the jobs fair is to provide people with the help they need to cope with unemployment, while also informing them about further training and education.

“It can be very difficult for people to know how best to train themselves after being recently made redundant, or after a longer period of unemployment,” he said. “The jobs fair will help to provide people with options so that they can start a small business, or re-train, or update their CV to get another job.”

Carrick-on-Suir has 2,225 people unemployed, according to the most recent statistics.
