Hector Ó hEochagáin will be returning to the small screen this October with his new show Hector i gCeanada, as the Navan funnyman travels 8,000km across eight of Canada’s provinces.
He will also present TG4’s first sports quiz, in which 16 of the country’s largest GAA clubs will battle to see which is the most knowledgeable on GAA matters.
Live and exclusive coverage of the Ireland versus Australia International Rules Series and a variety of Gaelic games will form part of TG4’s packed sports schedule. It also includes more than 30 live Magner’s League matches and a new four-part history of Irish rugby, Gualainn le Gualainn.
Topping the drama list and exclusive to TG4 will be US series True Blood, starring Oscar- winning actress Anna Paquin.
Popular Irish soap Ros na Rún will also return for a 15th season.
Also coming to our screens will be Stróc, a new five-part series presented by political journalist Harry McGee, charting some of the most outrageous stunts and achievements in Ireland in recent history.
Other Irish-interest series include Making a Difference, which details important figures in recent Irish history, while An Píopa tells the story of the small Co Mayo community that has taken on the might of Shell Oil and the Irish State.
TG4 will also be showing a range of eye-opening original Irish documentaries on many forgotten aspects of Irish life.
Among the top movies coming to the small screen this autumn will be modern classics Ocean’s 13, Blood Diamond, The Prestige and American Beauty.For younger viewers, movies in Irish including Harry Potter, The Reef, and Happy Feet will also be shown by the station.
