Irish-made drug cuts heart failure death and hospitalisation

AN Irish-made medicine has been shown to reduce death and hospitalisation due to heart failure by more than a quarter in a worldwide study.

Invabradine, produced by the French pharmaceutical company Servier at its Wicklow plant, is the only treatment to provide pure heart rate reduction.

The drug has been found to significantly improve the overall prognosis for patients with chronic heart failure.
