Derek delighted with results

CRYSTAL SWING singer Derek Burke, 18, famed for his hucklebuck, is over the moon having clocked up enough points to get into “any college” he wants.

But he remained tight-lipped yesterday about his results, which will be revealed on a show with Lucy Kennedy, to be aired in the autumn.

“I couldn’t believe it when I found out what I’d got. God almighty, there was people up studying all hours of the night for weeks and months and here I come, having hardly opened a book and I can’t believe what I’m after getting,” he said.

A graduate of St Colman’s Community College in Midleton, Derek said he attended very little school following the rise of his band earlier this year.

Derek was not so fresh from his graduation ball at the Rochestown Park Hotel with his date Lucy Kennedy on Tuesday night.

“We’d a fantastic night.”
