Arson attack on garda’s private car

GARDAÍ are hoping to make an early arrest following an arson attack on a private car belonging to a member of the force in a Co Cork town.

A Garda spokesman said if it wasn’t for the intervention of a passing taxi driver the car could have been completely burnt out and the fire could have spread to the garda’s home.

The spokesman said debris had been deliberately placed under a wheel arch of the family car when it was parked in the driveway of a home near Magnier’s Hill, Youghal, Co Cork.
