‘This is just tip of the iceberg’

IT takes a while for the scale of crimes against children to sink in.

They are not figures we have witnessed before. So many children killed violently. So many sexual attacks on the most vulnerable. So much casual violence. So many cases of family neglect.

And this in the knowledge that the figures are just the “tip of the iceberg”. They only show the crimes actually reported to gardaí.
