MOST people are more concerned about the quality of their dying than death itself, a study reveals.

However, the study funded by the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) shows that people are not comfortable with or informed about the process of dying and death. And it points to the need for educators, health professionals and other concerned parties to raise awareness and deepen understanding of it.

Around 30,000 people die every year in Ireland and 40% of these deaths occur in acute hospitals.
