Eight arrests were made, cars were stopped and searched and two cannabis factories were discovered in recent days during separate raids.
During one operation in the leafy suburb of Stillorgan, south Dublin, gardaí uncovered a drugs operation where the entire upstairs of a house was being used as a cannabis factory.
In each of the four upstairs bedrooms there was a pot-grow system with high-density lighting systems, reflective wall coverings and extensive ventilation and air extraction systems, according to gardaí.
Gardaí in Blackrock had stopped and searched a car at Drummartin Link Road, Stillorgan, Co Dublin, on Monday. The search resulted in 5kg of cannabis grass being recovered in the boot of the car and a 33-year-old male driver was arrested. A follow-up search in Mount Anville Wood, Stillorgan, on the same day resulted in the discovery of the cannabis factory.
Around 500 cannabis plants and several more kilos of cannabis grass were discovered. A 33-year-old woman was also arrested.
The total street value of both seizures is believed to be in the region of €600,000.
Both the man and the woman, believed to be Chinese, were being held in Blackrock Garda Station yesterday. Further searches were carried out in Clondalkin and Crumlin but there were no seizures or arrests.
In a further investigation linked to the south Dublin drugs bust, gardaí searched a house on the Headford Road, Kells, Co Meath, early yesterday morning.
Another elaborate cannabis factory was found at the Meath address where the house had been modified. The electricity supply had been by passed and an air extraction system set up. Some 400 cannabis plants, 3kg of cannabis herb and various growing equipment were seized.
The value of the seizure was in the region of €200,000. Two men aged 16 and 21 years were arrested and taken to Kells Garda Station.
In a separate operation targeting drug supplies in west Dublin, gardaí searched two vehicles on the Ninth Lough Road, Clondalkin, at around 7pm on Monday evening.
A car and a van were searched and 7kg of cannabis herb worth €82,000 were seized and three men aged 31, 35 and 43 were held and brought to Clondalkin Garda Station.
