Gardaí pelted with bottles and radio during car chase

GARDAÍ were pelted with beer bottles and had their patrol car rammed four times during a high speed chase in Cork city which lasted nearly 45 minutes.

Astonishing scenes were witnessed in the city as some of the occupants of the red Ford Escort opened up the sun-roof and flung bottles and even a car radio at the pursuing Garda patrol car.

The pursuit started when gardaí in Blackrock were informed of a suspected burglary at a house in Ballintemple village early yesterday morning.
