Potential NCO stake centre stage at Haulbowline
The 20, who were members of the 34th Naval Potential NCO Course, commenced their training on February 8 last.
The intensive course included subjects such as leadership, instructor training, weapons training and naval and military tactical training.
This training, combined with their time and experience in the Naval Service, qualifies each member of the class with a Certificate in Naval Leadership and Management.
This certificate is a Special Purpose Award at Level 6 (HETAC) and prepares the students to function as Non-Commissioned Officers both at sea and in shore appointments.
Pride of place at the ceremony went to leading Able Cook Thomas Keating from Fermoy, Co Cork, who was voted best potential NCO, while Leading Seaman Paddy Delaney from Laytown, Co Meath was voted best seamanship trainee.
Flag Officer commanding the Naval Service, Commodore Frank Lynch took the salute at the passing out ceremony.
