ENTERTAINMENT spending by Government departments has reached €1.2 million this year while cutbacks are being imposed on the most vulnerable, according to Fine Gael leader, Enda Kenny.

He told the Dáil that the Government has “lost its compassion” because of cuts in respite and home help for carers of people with intellectual disabilities.

Mr Kenny said homes for people with these disabilities are being “savaged” by cuts and carers had made a “cry for help” in yesterday’s Irish Examiner.
