RICHARD BRUTON probably didn’t realise he was doing it, but he treated the Fine Gael parliamentary party like serfs this week – and it cost him dearly in the end.

If and when they conduct their post mortem into the botched heave, Mr Bruton’s supporters will probably find all manner of things, and people, to blame.
