Fans of all ages lap up JLS at the Marquee

ROLL up, roll up, the Marquee is back in town. And what a way to follow the opening act, Megadeth, and with two nights of the boy band of the moment – JLS.

The British boyband are about as poptastic as it gets in the music world. They rose to fame on the X Factor, they have already won a Brit award and they love their mammies.

Last night in Cork, pop fans, young and old, made the pilgrimage to the Marquee to welcome Aston, Marvin, JB and Oritse. The colours loud, the banners big and the concert sold out. Rice Krispie boxes were turned into declarations of love for the band and for the few over-18s there last night the queue for the beer tent was just as short as many of the teenagers’ skirts. There were even rumours people were queuing outside from 7am yesterday morning to get close to the stage.

Such was the popularity of the first gig that the boys had to put on a second night in Cork.

Tickets cost almost €35 for the gig, but the foursome didn’t disappoint their screaming fans with performances of their number one singles Beat Again and Everybody in Love.

The warm-up DJ act lasted for about half an hour before the boys took to the stage to screams that would have embarrassed the vuvuzela sound at the World Cup.

The band came on stage just before 9pm and opened with a few of their lesser unknown songs before a bit of chat and Beat Again.

The crowd seemed happy with what they got for their money.

What you had on stage last night was four guys who clearly love what they are doing.

The JLS summer tour captured the hearts of their Cork audience and I’m sure they’ll be back because they left everyone in love with their performance.
