Galway City Hall badly damaged by explosion

GALWAY City Hall was badly damaged in an explosion which occurred just hours before hundreds of staff were due to arrive for work.

More than a dozen windows, including their frames, were blown out of the rear of the building on College Road at about 8am.

Garda, fire brigade, city council engineers and health and safety investigators examined the building to establish the cause.
