THE young Armagh student beaten in a attack in Chicago has started to walk, with assistance, for the first time since she was mugged.

“Upon her admission to hospital on May 14, 2010, she was unable to talk, walk, eat or move her arms independently. Today, she is walking with assistance, has started to use her arms and has begun to talk,” a spokesperson for the family of Natasha McShane said yesterday. “However, her final prognosis remains uncertain.”

The 23-year-old was beaten about the head with a baseball bat in an unprovoked attack.
