Charge related to organised crime

A 20-year-old last night appeared before a special sitting of Galway District Court as part of a major garda investigation into organised crime.

Mark Dowling of Castle Park, Ballybane, Galway was charged that, between July 23 last year and June 1 this year he participated in an activity for the purpose of enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation to commit a serious offence, namely the possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Dowling was remanded in custody to appear at Galway District Court on June 9.
