Rally drivers rev up to raise money for Marymount at former dump site

Up to 5,000 spectators are expected to attend the 2010 Cork City Rallysprint on the city’s former Kinsale Road landfill site on May 30 – the first public event on the amenity site.

It is being held in memory of motorsport fan and Cork Motor Club member Darren Swanton, from Grange, who died last year of cancer, aged just 30. The club, which is organising the event with Cork City Council and Bishopstown Lions Club, hopes the event will help raise thousands for Marymount Hospice, who cared for Darren in his final days.
