Free diabetes, cardiovascular tests for 7,000 VHI customers

UP to 7,000 VHI Healthcare customers in Cork city are to be invited for free diabetes and cardiovascular screening tests as part of the health insurer’s efforts to cut costs by detecting potentially chronic illnesses early.

It’s believed that cancer screening is also likely to be introduced at the centre next year. As of last month, VHI customers in Dublin are being invited for free colorectal cancer screening.

A random sample of VHI healthcare customers, living in a 30 kilometre radius of Cork city and aged 45-75, will soon be invited to avail of the cardiovascular and diabetes screening at the VHI medical centre at City Gate in Mahon, which opened last April.
