Radio station talks down Dunphy vow to oppose Harney

REBEL broadcaster Eamon Dunphy’s new employers have poured cold water on his surprise declaration of intent to run for the Dáil.

Newstalk 106, which this month lured Mr Dunphy back to anchor its Sunday morning current affairs show, said it did not foresee a genuine conflict of interest occurring.

A statement released by the station said the prospect of Mr Dunphy fulfilling his promise to contest a seat in the Dublin Mid-West constituency, in a bid to oust Health Minister Mary Harney, was remote.
