Rough justice: Tiger on course to make €225m divorce pay-out

TIGER Woods’ marriage to Swedish model Elin Nordegren looks to be over – and the divorce could cost the golfer a huge portion of his billion-dollar fortune.

Reports from America suggest the finishing touches are currently being put to the settlement and that both parties now just want to get the divorce over so that they can move on with their lives.

Estimates on how much the player will be out of pocket vary between $200m (€150m) and $300m (€225m) though the figure could be much higher.

In spite of claims by 14 women that they had affairs with the world’s number one golfer during his five-year marriage, the 34-year-old had hoped that his relationship with his wife could be saved by attending sex rehab and his self-imposed five-month withdrawal from the game.

Nonetheless there was much speculation that he had not done enough when the Swedish model did not attend his much-publicised return to the game for last week’s US Masters.

She was said to be angry that he had resumed his career so soon. Her absence was in spite of the fact that the golfer is understood to have even hired a separate mansion for his wife and two children close to the Augusta course where the competition was on.

As he was finishing his final round it is understood she was on a flight to Arizona.

Reports suggest that renovation work on a new home she has bought in her native Sweden has now been sped up so that it will ready to be moved into by the summer.

In spite of his continuing personal difficulties Tiger Woods looks set to continue his return to the game by taking part in June’s US Open. He is understood to have submitted an entry form to the United States Golf Association to take part in the competition.

Tiger Woods has been at the centre of controversy since he crashed his car outside his Florida mansion on November 27.

It was widely reported that the accident came following a row with his wife over his infidelities.

Numerous women came forward to say they had slept with the golfer, including a nightclub hostess and a cocktail waitress.

His attempt to reclaim some of his wholesome all-American family man image with a press conference backfired badly, not least since it was so stage-managed that the media were not even allowed to asked questions following a 14-minute- long monologue.

It was also hard not to notice that his wife was not there.
