THE president of the High Court has signalled that plans to set up a judicial council to oversee allegations of misconduct and complaints against judges are at a final stage.

Speaking at the weekend at the Law Society’s annual conference in Kilkenny, Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns said meetings would be held over the coming weeks about legislation for the new standards body.

“Paramount among my concerns is to cooperate in every way possible with efforts to bring the long-awaited judicial council into existence this year.”
