UP to 2,000 secondary school children are to be surveyed in a Co Cork town on their consumption of drink and drugs.

The survey – which will be completed anonymously – will be conducted in three secondary schools in Fermoy to ascertain the likely levels of drink and drug abuse among teenagers.

Martina Munnelly, a community outreach drugs worker in the town, said the idea for the survey had come from an advisory group which works closely with her and consists of gardaí, teachers and locals.
