PROFESSIONAL advisers told the Dublin Docklands Development Authority the now worthless Irish Glass Bottle site was only worth €220 million — before it joined a consortium which paid €412m for the plot.

The DDDA believed if 1,500 houses were built on the land it would generate a return of €180m.
