Three more bank bosses to be arrested in Anglo investigation
Two of the arrests are expected to be made in the next week or two. A third is believed to be abroad and gardaí will contact him formally and ask him to return home voluntarily for questioning.
The impending arrests follow the release without charge yesterday of former Anglo boss Sean FitzPatrick, who was questioned for 24 hours on suspicion of false accounting under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act. One of the issues he was questioned about was the concealment of €87 million in personal loans from Anglo.
Garda sources said the investigation by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation — initiated in February 2009 — will not be completed for a number of months. Sources said the Garda file won’t be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions until “well into the summer” who could direct further investigations be carried out at that stage.
