Railway stations to get pay parking

PAY parking is to be introduced next Monday at five railway stations in Cork and Kerry.

Railway stations to get pay parking

New pay-and-display ticketing machines will be installed at stations in Tralee, Farranfore, Killarney, Glounthaune and Little Island.

All these car parks have been upgraded and in some cases extended.

The number of spaces at Tralee’s Casement Station has been increased to 115, while Farranfore will have 30 spaces and Killarney 110.

On the Cork commuter network a 46-space car park will be available in Glounthaune and spaces have been increased to 110 at Little Island station.

Parking will cost €2 per day with rates for weekly and monthly users also available.

An Iarnród Éireann spokesman said customers should arrive earlier at stations to familiarise themselves with the new layout, park-and-ride facilities, payment arrangements, etc.

The work has been undertaken as part of a major revamp of railway station car parks throughout Cork and Kerry.

“Upgrading of station customer car parks have already taken place at Kent Station in Cork and at other stations in Carrigtwohill, Midleton, Mallow and Charleville,” said the spokesman.
