CONVICTED killer Eamonn Lillis appears to have rejected the option of mounting a legal challenge against his jail term for the manslaughter of his wife, Celine Cawley.

It is understood lawyers for Lillis failed to lodge a notice of appeal to challenge his conviction and/or sentence with the Court of Criminal Appeal within the formal three-week deadline which elapsed yesterday.

Lillis, 52, was found guilty of the manslaughter of Ms Cawley at their family home at Rowan Hill, Windgate Rd, Howth on December 15, 2008, and was sentenced to seven years in jail.
