FINE GAEL is to table a motion of no confidence in Defence Minister Willie O’Dea for giving false evidence in a sworn affidavit to the High Court.

The announcement increases the pressure on Mr O’Dea and came after Taoiseach Brian Cowen resisted calls to sack him.

Fine Gael is hoping that the no-confidence motion, to be tabled in the Dáil next week, will also place pressure on Fianna Fáil’s coalition partners, the Greens.
