Overtime and expenses spend drops sharply

FIGURES show Clare County Council expenditure in overtime, expenses and payments to consultants dropped sharply last year.

The figures released through the Freedom of Information Act reveal the council paid €1.2 million in overtime compared with €1.9m in 2008.

The figures also show €1.48m was paid in expenses last year compared with €1.56m in 2008. A senior executive engineer received €17,088 in expenses — the highest amount claimed.
