Mortgages and jobs crisis don’t exist on Planet Cowen
The only reason this country has not yet crossed the socially and psychologically disastrous figure of 500,000 people on the dole is that more than 60,000 of our brightest and best have been effectively run out of the country in the past year by a combination of ministerial indifference and sheer spite.
Those same ministers rejoice that they are revising down their peak unemployment estimates from 16% to “just” 14% as a sign we have “turned the corner” – without adding the inconvenient truth that this has been achieved by the tragic return of forced emigration and the shamelessly cynical ploy to slash benefits for the under-25s in a blatant attempt to get them to flee their homeland as well.
