70,000 workers join work to rule

ALMOST 70,000 public sector members of SIPTU will join the nationwide work to rule from today.

Union members will engage in action in all the sectors of the public service where SIPTU has members, including education, health semi-state firms and local authorities.

Under the action staff will refuse to allow themselves to be redeployed to cover vacant posts, will not do any work outside their contracted hours and will in some cases refuse to answer phones.
