THE Government has put the cost of November’s devastating flood damage at €500 million in an application for EU funds.

If the state’s claim is accepted, the country could receive €12.5m from the Union’s Solidarity Fund.

The application was lodged earlier this week, just one day before the 10-week deadline for receivingrequests for help following a natural disaster.
