Red Cross on standby

EMERGENCY services and stranded motorists are being supported by workers with the Red Cross as the big freeze continues to grip the country.

Red Cross on standby

The Irish Red Cross has made available its emergency ambulances, which are on standby to help with the health authority’s response to the harsh weather conditions.

The agency’s evacuation and meals and wheels services, provided by the Red Cross here in the past, are also being lined up to help the vulnerable elderly and disabled people who have become stranded in their homes since the cold spell began.
