‘The nice young fella with the red hair’

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen and Tánaiste Mary Coughlan visited the north Donegal town of Buncrana to pay their respects following the death of 24-year-old Garda Gary McLoughlin who died from injuries he received when a vehicle ploughed into his patrol car at the weekend.

Known to the locals as “the nice young fella with the red hair”, Garda McLoughlin had recently moved into a flat with his girlfriend, Shauna Bradley, who works in a local Buncrana supermarket.

The Taoiseach and Tánaiste signed the book of condolence in Buncrana Garda Station and met and talked with his shocked family, colleagues and his girlfriend.
