Twins set for hair-raising number

BRITISH Prime Minister Gordon Brown might not like them, Simon Cowell might even hate them but X Factor duo John and Edward won’t care as they belt their way through the Ghostbusters theme tune on tonight’s show.

Twins set for hair-raising number

The pair, who have been dubbed Jedward, will tackle the famous ’80s tune for this week’s movie-themed X Factor show.

With opinion firmly divided on the pair, and Facebook pages trying to keep them in or get them out of the competition, one thing the twins cannot be accused of is being boring and tonight’s show promises that it will be every bit as spectacular as last week’s effort.

Viewers were shocked last week when the duo survived the public vote after they belted out their version of Queen classic We Will Rock You.

Following the performance, Simon Cowell described the routine as being like something from Night of the Living Dead — apt considering it was Halloween night.

Cowell has also admitted that he would quit the show and leave Britain if the Dublin twins won the show.

However, the twins have found some allies in unlikely circles.

Britain’s Princess Beatrice and Eugenie are said to be secret fans of the pair, while pop icon Britney Spears has also thrown her weight behind the duo after seeing them perform her hit single Oops, I did it Again on the show.

But the pair are nothing if not confident and thick skinned.

This weekend should see if they can last past the halfway mark.

The pair are also believed to be lined up by celebrity agent Max Clifford as their popularity soars.

Clifford is hoping to seize on the pair’s massive profile in Britain and has said they could make up to £100,000 or more following the show.

Meanwhile, X Factor supremo Simon Cowell was snapped up by his music business rival at a charity auction at a cost of £19,000 for an hour of his time.

Cowell donated 60 minutes of his expertise at the sale — which featured leading figures from the business, arts and entertainment world — and he was bought with a winning bid by music mogul Lucian Grainge, chairman of Universal Music, during the “Krug Mind Share” bash at auction house Christie’s in London.

The price for Cowell’s activity is way above the going rate for his time — he is thought to earn about £30 million each year, which works out at just over £3,400 per hour.
