THE Government will be able to issue guidelines directing banks to increase lending to businesses under an amendment made to the NAMA legislation.

But Finance Minister Brian Lenihan rejected an opposition proposal to provide for a two-year moratorium on house repossessions in the legislation.

The latest changes were made as the legislation was passed in the Dáil last night.
