Day of protest against Government

THOUSANDS of people will take to the streets in eight centres around the country this afternoon to express their anger at the Government’s economic recovery efforts.

Day of protest against Government

The marches have been organised by the Irish Congress of Trade Unions in support of its 10-point plan for national recovery, There is a Better, Fairer Way. Organisers are uncertain whether the turnout will match the 120,000 who attended ICTU’s last national protest earlier this year.

Today’s marches will take place in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Sligo, Tullamore, and Dundalk, beginning at 2.30pm.
