THE heads of the banks have agreed to review their security systems in an attempt to thwart armed robberies following a recent spate of tiger kidnappings.

Justice Minister Dermot Ahern met Garda chiefs and bank bosses yesterday amid concerns individual staff were gaining access to excessive amounts of cash while under the duress of gangs.

Banks agreed employees will in future prioritise contacting gardaí once staff become aware a raid or tiger kidnapping is under way.
