2 dead in outbreak of C diff in Louth hospital

TWO patients have died after contracting Clostridium difficile (C diff) in a major acute hospital in Co Louth, it has emerged.

The Health Service Executive (HSE) confirmed yesterday that the patients at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda died in the past week.

The hospital has taken a number of measures, including closing wards and banning visitors, in a bid to deal with an outbreak of C diff.
