NAMA edges one step closer to reality

THE legislation to establish NAMA is one step closer to being passed.

The “committee stage” — so-called because this is the part in the legislative process where an Oireachtas committee scrutinises the bill line by line — concluded at 5.35am yesterday.

By then, 250 proposed amendments had been debated by the committee since it began its work last Thursday. What new information has emerged during the committee stage? And what — if any — significant changes have been made to the NAMA bill?
