PROPOSALS to reduce the legal limit for drink driving should be introduced without further delay, the Irish Medical Organisation has urged.

The doctors’ group pointed out at the current legal limit of 80mg/100ml a driver is between five and 10 times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash.

The IMO warned the risk of a fatal crash rose rapidly when the blood/alcohol level reached 50mg/100ml.
