THE state’s financial watchdog has been urged to investigate “wild” Government claims that NAMA will turn a €4.8 billion profit.

Fine Gael finance spokes- man Richard Bruton urged the Comptroller and Auditor General to examine the draft NAMA business plan before taxpayers’ money was handed over in the €54bn bank bailout.

The opposition scored a victory with its demand to have the committee stage of the NAMA Bill dealt with in the chamber – though only finance committee members have a vote on amendments.
