Ceann Comhairle post likely to stay with Fianna Fáil

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen has strongly indicated the Ceann Comhairle post will not leave the Fianna Fáil party after an election in the Dáil.

Mr Cowen said there were plenty of his party colleagues who were qualified to take over from John O’Donoghue when he resigns later today.

“As leader of Fianna Fáil there are some people in my own party who would be eminently suitable,” the Taoiseach said.
